Technical
Developing, guiding and supporting CP’s marketing, sales and manufacturing programme is a fundamental role of the Technical and Development Department.
Systematic approach
A systematic approach to our delivery of the ideal customer moment is absolutely essential. In delivering this we address all aspects of the supply chain, which impact on the quality, safety, legality and reputation of the brand.
Working relationships
Strong links between manufacturing and development is an imperative in delivering technical excellence.
This is achieved through close working relationships between the technical and development teams in cooperation with our colleagues in manufacturing and of course our customers.
Data management
An increasingly complex global supply chain with a product portfolio involving thousands of ingredients and hundreds of suppliers involves us in the management of large amounts of data.
Customers need accurate information on time, and we have dedicated teams in place both in Thailand and the UK to deliver these requirements.
Quality management
We recognise that food, in being essential to the health of the nation, will always be at the centre of debate in terms of how things are grown, how ingredients are sourced and our methods of production. We therefore maintain analytical and auditing programmes designed to monitor and manage the quality of the products that we manufacture from raw material sourcing through to finished product.
Factory visits
Our customers are welcome to see our operations and the team regularly organise customer visits to undertake technical audits of our manufacturing facilities both in Thailand and the UK.
Development of standards
Policy development is an important part of the technical function and we are involved in developing standards throughout our supply chain addressing a wide range of emerging issues from farming and feed standards through to our worldwide manufacturing standard developed in conjunction with colleagues across the CP Group.
Diligence
Diligence is an integral part of the supply equation and the team have established and manage an effective system which ensures that safe, traceable products are available which meet all the necessary legal requirements from ingredients, nutrition, microbiological and chemical standards, cooking instructions, shelf life and temperature control.
Traceability
CP Foods have a documented traceability procedure to identify all our product from consumer through distribution, manufacturing processes and ultimately back to the source and vice versa.
With any traceability the product details on the pack are essential and sufficient to commence a full and complete trace. Our systems allow us to trace any product to containers used in the shipment from our manufacturing sites, through to reception by our cold store and subsequent distributions to all our customers. The trace at Thailand allows us to identify production day, line and time and all raw materials to the suppliers and farms.
The traceability system is tested by us internally and by our customers from all the business units on a regular basis.
Specifications
The specification is a document produced for each product that CP supplies. They come in many formats but all have one aim - to give the customer full detail about a product’s make up, process and manufacturing environment.
Specifications are an integral part of the business as ultimately the product specification is the legally binding contract between CP and the customer. The information held within them enables our customers to create suitable legal product packaging and labels. They have the detail needed to satisfy any food safety query.
Container Release
The majority of CP product arrives by container ship. Any containers entering into the UK must be accompanied by the relevant shipping documentation, which is a legal set of documents that are checked and verified by UK Port Health Officials, before being released for collection.
CP Foods have strict due diligence procedures that are followed in order to release product into the system for use. The microbiological results for all products and batch codes along with the temperature data logger information of the journey are both verified against the procedure before the product has the final release into the system and can then be dispatched to customers.
CP have systems in place to be able to provide customers with a Certificate of Conformance or a Certificate of Analysis for any delivery they receive.
Complaints
CP Foods has a documented procedure that applies to all customer complaints concerning product quality, safety and legality of product supplied. The customer complaints are directed to Central Technical Dept to process.
When complaints are received we aim to gather as much information as possible before reporting to our manufacturing sites in Thailand. An investigation is initiated by the site’s Technical Managers and on completion a report is submitted to UK Technical to respond back to the customer.
All complaints are logged to allow regular review and monitoring, and trends are identified for corrective and preventive actions at source.
